Hello Students and Parents!
We are now in the third quarter of the school year, amazing!
Math updates:
Dr. McAdams has recently approved a new homework policy for 6th grade math classes. There are a couple of points that are of special interest to students. First, we now have a 100% Club. Each time a student earns 100% on a section quiz or a chapter/ unit/ cumulative test he/she signs the chart for the 100% Club. Mrs. Wendell has also offered a candy bar as additional incentive.
Second, any student who receives an "A" on a test listed above will be assigned the "A" homework, it is 50% of the class homework or 10 questions, whichever is less. This will continue until the next test. The opportunity may be lost if the student does not complete the homework, does low quality work, or if the teacher feels it is necessary.
This policy has been instituted to encourage students to listen, learn, and do their best work.
We are only about 6 weeks from the FCAT. I will be assigning more homework on the weekends during this time. We will be learning new material for approximately 3 more weeks. After spring break we will review the material that we have learned all year.
Social Studies:
We are finishing Chapter 5 on ancient India and will be taking the Chapter 5 test during the week of March 4. Next, we will begin Chapter 6, Ancient China.
Speaking of tests, students will take the math Chapter 10 test during the week of March 4.
