Our Teachers
The instructional staff at SCJH come from a variety of backgrounds and interests, and all teachers have a minimum of a Bachelors degree., with some teachers holding advanced degrees and training. They are kind, considerate, and encouraging, and have the highest academic expectations for your child.

Mr. Richard Concilio
P.E and Character Development

Coach Concilio is starting his 6th year at SCJH. He has a BS degree from Northwestern State University in Louisiana and a MEd from LSU. Coach has a Florida teaching certification in Social Studies, ESE, and Physical Education. He spent 33 years in the Louisiana education system where he served as teacher, athletic coach, athletic director, asst. principal, and principal. His community responsibilities included hearing officer for truancy cases in the LA 26th Judicial District, and he was elected and served 10 years as a Constable.

nolan
Mr. Marvel Nolan
7th & 8th Grade Math
Marvel Nolan is beginning his 2nd year at SCJH. He earned his Bachelor's of Science in Industrial Engineering degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI and his Master's in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Currently, he is one semester from completing his Master's of Mathematics at Western Governor's University. Mr. Nolan has an active Florida Professional teaching certification in Secondary Mathematics and he has dedicated his career to educating young people and adults for the past 10 years.

Sutherland

Mrs. Heidi Sutherland
6th & 7th Grade Reading
Heidi Sutherland graduated from Washington College on the Eastern Shore of Maryland with a BA degree in American Studies. She taught social studies in Maryland for five years until she and her husband moved to Destin, Florida where she taught social studies as well.  In order to live closer to family, Heidi and her family moved to Vero Beach and she has been at SCJH since February of 2010.  Heidi completed her reading endorsement this year and along with being certified to teach social studies, she is certified in English grades 6-12.

Mrs. Alison Taylor
8th Grade Science

Mrs. Taylor graduated from Youngstown State University with a degree in Geography and a minor in Spanish. She also has her Masters in Education, specializing in Administration. Her college experiences included traveling to Jamaica, the Bahamas and even Costa Rica. She is in her 10th year of teaching science at SCJH.

Boyd
Ms. Susan Boyd
7th & 8th Grade Social Studies

Ms. Boyd is a graduate of SUNY Albany with a degree in History and a minor in Education. She spent many years in New York working to help those less fortunate with health care and housing issues. She has lived in Europe and the Middle East while working with the National Broadcasting Company. This is her 11th year at SCJH.

Mrs. Lynn Sonier                      PE/Character Development

Lynn Sonier is a Finance major from Penn State and she received her teaching degree from IRSC. Prior to teaching, she was a VP of a bank in NYC in the commercial lending area. This is her third year with SCJH and she currently teaches mathematics and physical education. She and her husband live in Vero Beach and they have two children in college. Besides teaching and taking care of her family, Sonier is a mentor for two children through Youth Guidance. She is an avid runner and sports enthusiast.

McIntosh

Mrs. Linda McIntosh           6th & 7th Grade Language Arts

Mrs. McIntosh attended the State University College at Buffalo in New York. She graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice. She later attended Roberts Wesleyan College where she received her teaching certificate. Mrs. McIntosh has been part of the education system for over ten years. Her goal is to provide quality learning opportunities for all students with different learning styles and needs. She is thrilled to be a part of the SCJH family.

Mrs. Nan Thornton                               6th Grade Math
                                                        6th Grade Social Studies

                        Nan Thornton has earned a master's degree, lifetime teaching credential for California community colleges.  Florida education credentials include: k-6 elementary, 5-9 Integrated Curriculum, additional: Gifted Endorsement, K-12.  She has completed additional training to support her position as a teacher.  Prior to teaching she was a Business Development Manager for a Fortune 100 company and worked with customers all over the world.  After leaving the industry she and her husband lived on a sailboat and toured the east coast of the U.S. and the Bahamas.
