Sebastian
Charter Junior High is a free public school that was created by a group
of concerned parents in 2000. These parents saw the need for a school
of choice for their students who were about to enter middle school.
After many dedicated hours of service, a private corporation was formed
to govern Sebastian Charter Junior High (SCJH).
SJCH is dedicated to
offering a quality education for students in a small school environment.
Students are encouraged to participate in service activities which
allow them to give back to the community. As a “mainstream” school, SCJH
also offers services to students who have been identified as gifted and
talented. A resource specialist works with students who have special
needs.
Parents are
encouraged to have open communication with their students and teachers.
Parents are asked to participate in the Parent Teacher Student
Organization. A minimum of 8 hours of volunteer time is required by
parents. Hours to serve are flexible, and can be accomplished through
phone calls, typing, landscaping, tutoring, copying, and many other
various activities.
